Don’t let school dictate the rest of your life!
What’s stopping you from writing blogs? Business blogging is a sure-fire way of improving your web traffic, adding depth to your website and attracting new customers. So, if it holds so many benefits, what are you waiting for?
I’m not very good at writing
I hated school homework, especially when it involved writing essays, and I’m probably not alone in this view. In fact, it put me off writing anything for a long time. Once I got my head around the nature of the blog, it became a whole new writing experience.
I don’t know where to start
A great approach to starting a blog is to ask yourself a question and then answer it. You can write about absolutely anything you like. The most important thing for your website is content.
Think of blogs more like news snippets or magazine articles. They don’t need to be journalistic masterpieces; they just need to be little pieces of information. 300 words is the recommended blog length, so not a huge mountain to climb.
I’m worried what people will think
If you put your opinions out there, you are bound to attract a few negative comments. Most of the people that leave them have a negative opinion about everything and revel in casting black clouds upon the world. However, you will also attract people that want to hear your opinion or expertise. These are the people you want to do business with, not the troublemakers, so focus on them.

Embrace the positivity. People like and share blogs!

I don’t have the time
There’s no doubt that blogging regularly is good for your business and it shouldn’t take longer than an hour or so a week to do. Practise makes perfect. Writing is just like any other muscle to exercise; you just have to do it regularly.
I don’t want to share information with my competitors
It’s an easy conclusion to jump to. I once had a business that involved being paid to coach, and I kept my expertise close to my chest because I was afraid that people would steal it. However, in time, I started making some of this information freely available to the public. When I did that, I actually got more enquiries for coaching. It was because I became the ‘Go to’ person. People trusted my opinion and wanted more of my expertise. Give people a taster, and they might come back for more.
