Helping a consultancy speak with clarity
Honest Clarity needed a website video to introduce Jason Cater in a calm, confident, and personal way. As a consultant working with charity leaders, trustees and senior teams, Jason’s work depends on trust, experience and the ability to explain complex fundraising challenges clearly.
The video needed to help visitors understand what Honest Clarity does, how Jason adds value, and why his experience matters. It also needed to create a stronger personal connection on the homepage, allowing potential clients to hear directly from Jason before enquiring.
A documentary-style approach
Rather than creating a scripted promotional video, we filmed the piece in a relaxed documentary style. Jason spoke naturally about his work, his mission and the value he brings to charities. The finished video took on a more thoughtful, conversational tone, which suited both Jason’s personality and the nature of his consultancy.
We deliberately filmed Jason looking slightly off camera rather than directly down the lens. This approach created the feeling of an interview rather than a sales message. It allowed him to speak in an unscripted way, making the video feel honest, reflective and easy to engage with.
The minimal setting avoided distractions and gave the film a polished, professional feel.
A simple studio setting
We filmed the video in the Video & Web studio against a black background. This style decision kept the focus entirely on Jason and his words. The minimal setting avoided distractions and gave the film a polished, professional feel without making it seem overly staged.
The black background also helped create a calm and serious atmosphere, suitable for a consultant working with charity leaders on important strategic decisions.
Designed for real viewing habits
Alongside the main website version, we also produced a cropped portrait version for mobile viewing. The multiple ratio gave Honest Clarity a more flexible video asset that could work beyond the homepage, particularly on phones and social media platforms where vertical video performs more naturally.
Making the homepage more personal
The finished video gave the Honest Clarity homepage a stronger human presence. Visitors could quickly understand Jason’s approach, hear the thinking behind the brand, and gain a sense of the person they would be working with.
For a consultancy business, this matters. People are not only buying a process or a service. They are choosing someone they trust to listen, challenge, guide and support them. The video helped communicate that in a way written copy alone could not.
The result
The Honest Clarity video became an important part of the website’s first impression. It introduced Jason clearly, provided context for his work in the charity sector, and helped convey his mission in a concise, accessible way.
By keeping the style simple, personal, and documentary-led, the video supported the wider brand message: expert insight, clear strategy, and better fundraising.
