Creating a showcase website for a songwriter and composer
George Baker is a musician, composer, and singer-songwriter who needed a website that could serve as a clear showcase for his work.
The project needed to provide George with a professional online home for his music, videos, archive material, and songwriting services. As a creative professional with a growing body of work, he needed more than a simple brochure site. He needed a platform that could grow with him as he added new songs, demos, stories, videos and portfolio pieces.
The website also needed a memorable identity. We sourced a short, snappy domain name that sums up what George does in a way people can easily remember. The Song Guy gave the project a clear hook and helped position George around the service and creative skill at the heart of his work.
George needed a platform that could grow with him as he added new songs, demos, stories, videos and portfolio pieces.
Building a platform around the music
The website had to place George's music and songwriting at the centre of the experience. We designed the site to showcase his services, portfolio, news and archive content in a way that felt appropriate for a musician rather than a generic business website. The dark visual style, gold accents, microphone identity and textured background helped create a mood that connected with performance, recording and songwriting.
The site also needed to handle different types of content. George had songs, videos, demos, historic archive material, band photographs and project stories to share. We created a structure that allowed those elements to sit together without making the site feel cluttered or difficult to follow.
Giving George control over new content
George needed the ability to build the website over time as new work became available. We created the site with a content management system so he could add and update content himself. The system gave him a practical way to publish news, upload portfolio pieces, add song demos and expand the archive as the project developed.
For a songwriter and composer, that flexibility mattered. New songs, collaborations and recordings can appear gradually, so the website needed to support ongoing updates rather than rely on a fixed set of pages.
Showcasing services, demos and portfolio work
The website needed to explain the different ways George works as a songwriter and composer. We created clear service areas for songwriting, ghostwriting, and music production, supported by strong music-related imagery. The portfolio section gave George a place to showcase finished projects, demo tracks, tribute songs, videos and collaborations.
Audio players let visitors listen directly on the website, while video embeds add depth to selected projects. That helps the site work as both a promotional platform and a practical listening space for potential collaborators, clients and fans.
Building a library of video and photographs on a media day.
Supporting the music with video
Our work with George also extended beyond the website. As George develops new compositions, we are helping him to produce music videos to accompany selected songs. These videos give the music another way to reach audiences, adding visual storytelling to the compositions and strengthening the website's portfolio content.
As well as creating music videos for George, media days with him have also helped build a library of photographs, video content and promotional material for The Song Guy website, social media and future music releases.
That joined-up approach helped the website become more than just a place to list songs. It became a home for George's wider creative output, bringing together songwriting, production, performance, archive material and video in one place.
Creating space for stories and archive material
George's work includes a rich tapestry of personal and musical history, so the website needed to support more than the current services. The news and archive sections gave him a place to share stories behind songs, vintage photographs, band memories, sheet music, historic material and project updates. Rather than limiting the site to a simple portfolio, we created a platform that could capture the wider story behind his music.
That approach helped make the website more personal and distinctive. It allowed visitors to understand not only what George offers, but also the depth of experience and musical background behind his work.
The result
The Song Guy website provided George Baker with a memorable, flexible, and music-focused platform for his songwriting and composition.
The short domain name created a clear identity, while the website design gave his music, videos and stories a professional home. The content management system allows George to keep building the site as new material becomes available, turning the website into an evolving showcase rather than a static online brochure.
The finished website now supports George's creative work, promotes his services and gives visitors a clear way to explore his songs, projects and musical archive. Alongside the website, the music videos help bring selected compositions to life and provide George with a stronger set of promotional assets to share his work.

Client testimonial
Amazing service!
Amazing service! I recently found myself in a position where I needed to produce a song video very quickly to meet a particularly tight deadline. Whilst searching for a solution, I happened by chance to find Video and Web via Google. That was most definitely my lucky day.
They were extremely professional and responsive. Most importantly, I had a rough sketch in my mind for the video, but Emma was extremely imaginative and came up with lots of ways to enhance the artistic aspects of the project. The video is great and was delivered well ahead of schedule.
I feel that I received very good value for money. So, I’m a very happy customer, and I have no hesitation in recommending Video and Web.
